Tackling Quality of Solar Rural Electrification(TaQSolRE) has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to deal with improvement in the quality of PV stand-alone systems, which hampers its’acceptance and the confidence of the consumers. On the one hand, the project promotes that quality control of PV systems be carried out according to standards which can be verified at the local level, while on the other, a tool is being developed to resolves issues concerning the poor reliability of installation of the systems themselves.

The Objectives of TaQSolRE
To identify the technical problems linked to social acceptance of solar rural electrification in developing countries. To establish technical parameters which quantity the PV system reliability and confidence. To explore mechanisms to establish local or regional quality controls for PV systems, modules, B.O.S. components, installation and service. To increase the confidence in PV systems and its ability to support sustainable development in rural areas of developing countries by improving the quality of life by the provision of appropriate electrification.

  • the involvement of consultants and engineers in energy and education with regular collaboration in national and international standardisation committees and links into national and international programmes and networks.
  • The partners’widespread geographical presence in developing countries launching PV RE programmes (In Africa, Asia and Latin-America) and their links to international organizations (World Bank, GEF, NGO's).
